Maidaan, an historical sports biographical drama set during India's golden era of football from 1952-62, follows Syed Abdul Rahim (played by Ajay Devgn). Rahim managed the Indian national football team for 13 years while creating modern Indian football; during which time, Ajay Devgn managed the Indian squad as Syed Abdul Rahim established modern Indian football - Priyamani Rao and Rudranil Ghosh also feature as players supporting him on screen.
